Rebecca N. Johnson is an artist and designer based in NYC. She graduated from Pratt Institute with a BFA in Communications Design/Illustration. Rebecca cherishes visual expression as an invaluable resource for universal communication and connection. Using lime washes, acrylic and pigment inks, flashe, watercolors and pastels in weather-worn, sun-bleached palettes she achieves an earthy, mineral quality to her work.
Her neo-impressionist style, rich in symbolic evocation, features balletic silhouettes of semi-abstracted figures in natural or otherworldly landscapes. Reoccurring themes of renewal, grief, and memory run through her work, as creature companions emerge as archetypes of transformation, instinct, and spirit.
Rebecca’s work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions at Mana Contemporary, Deep Space Gallery, DS Special Projects, Elevator Studios, Prime Gallery, Walk-Bye, Art Fair 14C, Spring/Break Art Fair and at the Palazzo Mora during the 2024 Venice Biennale. Her work has been featured in ArtnetNews, Jersey City Times and B.I.O. and is in private and public collections locally and internationally.
